The most pressing need from client is smoothly moving sliding mechanism. Meanwhile,cost consideration will be appreciated.
Our Solution
To begin, we used the same paper thickness (350gsm grey board) throughout the book. We made a testing proof sample and found that the slider does not move smoothly as expected.
We discussed two solutions with our client for resolving the problem.
1. We applied dehumidification for the sample. If it worked well, the agreed-upon unit cost could be maintained.
2. Use thicker paper for spacers to allow bigger “house” for sliders. The extra cost of approx. 5% will occur for this option
The procedure and the ultimate result
Dehumidification was used, and the mechanism was improved. All sliders were able to move appropriately, which met the client’s requirements.
For consideration, we suggested that we made a testing sample with thicker spacers for client review. We use 1.5mm millboard to replace of 350gsm greyboard for spacers. As a result, we discovered that the slide board book functions considerably better with a happy mechanism and a neat appearance.
Finally, for a more thrilled effect, the client elected to utilize a thicker spacer for the sliding book and accepted extra cost.
Currently, the bulk of the shipment is on its way to the client, and the final product is looking terrific.
